EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Dec. 11, the Department reached a settlement to end the Biden-era SAVE student loan plan that helped over seven million borrowers, including 1.7 million from Ohio, and affected borrowers must choose new repayment options with a replacement plan set for July 1 (pending court approval).  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • COTA’s new Rickenbacker Mobility Center will open for bus riders on January 5 at 6675 Shook Rd while still under construction (full opening expected in spring). It will serve bus lines 22 and 24 and GREAT shuttles.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health experts warn Lancaster residents over 45 with heart risks to take breaks and proper measures when shoveling snow today; if chest pain or lightheadedness occurs (key signs of a heart attack), stop immediately and call 911 as up to 7 inches of snow is forecast through the weekend.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • Freshman Ilahna Speelman scored 23+ points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and blocked 6 in Berne Union's 46-42 win over the Eagles on Dec. 11, leaving the girls 5+0 in the Mid-State League-Cardinal Division. Their strong start keeps the unbeaten team in focus.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
