Good morning, Lancaster.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol launched an end-of-year enforcement blitz early this morning to remind drivers to buckle up, obey speed limits, and avoid distractions as traffic deaths risk reversing a three-year decline—officials noted that 11 people died over Thanksgiving weekend with incidents involving drinking and failure to wear seatbelts. Officials urged drivers to make safe choices on the roads so everyone can get home for the holidays.

Local high school boys’ basketball teams kicked off their season last week as coaches refreshed rosters with returning players and new talent—teams like LANCASTER, BLOOM-CARROLL, LIBERTY UNION, FAIRFIELD UNION and BERNE UNION are set to face challenges blending experience with fresh skill. Coaches say these changes may shape game outcomes across all seven tournament divisions as the season unfolds.
