EDUCATION NEWS

  • Amanda-Clearcreek alumna Hannah Saum, a junior at Texas A&M University, represented Ohio at the National FFA Organization Convention and Expo in Indianapolis as the official candidate for the National FFA Officer Team—she plans to return to Amanda and practice veterinary medicine after earning her license.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
  • Lancaster Eagle-Gazette voters are asked to choose the best cheerleading squad among Fairfield County high schools as the teams boost game spirit at football and basketball events.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
  • A candidate for the Pickerington Local School District board was left off ballots in three Franklin County voting locations, affecting 596 registered voters, and officials replaced the ballots with correct paper versions. The candidate’s campaign (reportedly Charles Newman) said it appreciated the quick fix but was concerned about the error's impact on voter confidence.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • Three local high school football teams are preparing for playoff games on Friday, Nov. 7. Bloom-Carroll will travel to face Licking Valley in Division III — Fairfield Union will play New Lexington in Division IV, and Fisher Catholic will host Danville at Fulton Field in Division VII.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
  • Bloom-Carroll, with a record of 27-1, reached the state tournament after clinching district and regional titles with five-set wins that saved them from elimination. The Bulldogs will play Chardon Notre Dame Cathedral Latin at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 7 at Wittenberg University — coach Kyle McFerin, named Division III state Coach of the Year, praised the team’s focus and strong communication.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
