COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Two Labrador mix breed dogs graduated through the Canine Companions course at Southeastern Correctional Institution on October 20 in Lancaster. They spent a year training at the institution and will now start advanced service dog training — a new step for both — to become service dogs.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Ohio University regional campuses are growing their nursing programs and preparing for milestone anniversaries next year. The Board of Trustees shared that Chillicothe and Zanesville will mark 80 years and Lancaster and Southern 70 years—along with record enrollment and new programs boosting student support.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
  • Five local residents completed a six-week, 166-hour EMT training at the Ohio Fire Academy — the final EMT class of 2025 held at the State Fire Marshal’s campus, and they are now ready to serve as first responders. One of the graduates is from Lancaster, joining peers from Rushville, Canal Winchester, and Pickerington.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
  • Meteorologist Sarah Converse visited Tallmadge Elementary in Lancaster Tuesday (a local school) and taught kindergarten to second-grade students about weather (covering clouds, cold fronts, and tornadoes).  ABC6

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Tuesday, the Bloom-Carroll girls’ soccer team lost 1-0 in double overtime to No. 2 seed Bexley in the Central District Division III semifinal — senior goalkeeper Lauryn Pinkerton made 15 saves as the Bulldogs pushed hard through extra time.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
  • The NBA on NBC returned Tuesday night as the Oklahoma City Thunder hosted the Houston Rockets and Ohio native Jordan Cornette joined the broadcast team. Fans recalled the 1990s when Roundball Rock played—bringing back memories of Ohio basketball—and the show offered a fresh view of the sideline.  NBC4
