ECONOMY NEWS

  • Ohio gas prices fell last week to an average of $2.72 per gallon from $2.99 the week before—making prices about 11.2% lower than the national average of $3.06.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A new pre-apprenticeship plumbing program will launch for ten Fairfield County high school seniors to offer classroom, lab and mentorship experiences that prepare them for plumbing careers. The initiative is a collaboration between the Fairfield County Workforce Center, Freeland Foundation and Freeland Contracting Company — aiming to give students hands-on training and industry knowledge for future opportunities.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • Bloom-Carroll won the Mid-State League-Buckeye Division title with a 28-17 win over Hamilton Township after forcing five turnovers and slowing the opponents following an early 65-yard drive. The Bulldogs improved to a record (7-2), clinched their eighth consecutive title, and marked the seniors’ 40th win in four years.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
  • Fairfield Union football turned a slow start into a 34-14 win over Amanda-Clearcreek on Friday night by forcing three turnovers and shutting down the opponent’s run game — boosting its playoff hopes as Coach Andy Clark praised his team's grit.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
