  • Historic photos and memorabilia are on display in the fairground office to mark the 175th anniversary of the Fairfield County Fair—visitors can view the exhibit during the fair season.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A local economist from Nationwide says the government shutdown will have a modest effect on Ohio today—83,000 federal workers including 15,000 in Columbus face furloughs— while the Mid-Ohio Food Collective reports a 58% rise in demand and stands ready to help families if the shutdown continues.  NBC4

HEALTH NEWS

  • FAIRHOPE Hospice & Palliative Care marked the one-year anniversary of its AIM Clinic in Lancaster when it opened Sept. 23 at 1319 E. Main St. and cared for 660 patients with progressive illnesses—helping ease symptoms and stress.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
