Today, the Trail of Scarecrows begins in Fairfield County as residents and businesses display handmade scarecrows across 15 communities — the event was featured on Good Day Columbus by Visit Fairfield County's executive director Jonett Haberfield.

This autumn adventure invites locals to explore creative displays while learning more about the regional celebration.

Today, Ohio's outdoor burning restrictions go into effect as officials ban open burning from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in October, November, March, April, and May to reduce wildfire risk — the state averages about 800 wildfires that burn thousands of acres every year.

Ohio's law will raise the minimum wage for non-tipped workers to $11 and for tipped workers to $5.50 on January 1 — a 2.8% increase from 2025 rates.

The change will also raise the business threshold to $405,000 — ensuring that wages adjust with the Consumer Price Index.
