BUSINESS NEWS

  • PetCo closed 13 stores across the U.S. so far in 2025 — none in Ohio or Kentucky — as part of its transformation plan that will lead to further closures later.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Central Ohio is in a drought that puts trees and shrubs at risk of permanent damage from dry soil. Experts at Kevin Masters Arborist Services stress that watering in the cool morning or evening is key—water must soak the full root area to help keep trees healthy.  NBC4

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Ohio Department of Natural Resources launched a digital passport challenge on the Outer-Spatial app on Friday — digital badges were given to visitors who checked in at state parks after the parks won a National Gold Medal Award for excellence. Gov. Mike DeWine said free entry along with upgraded cabins, 10 lodges and nearly 10,000 camping sites make Ohio parks stand out — a move aimed at increasing park visits statewide.  NBC4

SPORTS NEWS

  • Bloom-Carroll won its second straight Mid-State League game with a 49—14 victory over Liberty Union on Friday night—Kyson Cline scored three rushing touchdowns while Colton Butcher added two in a dominant first half. Other league wins came from Amanda-Clearcreek, Berne Union and Fisher Catholic—Lancaster’s team dropped 35—14 to Groveport in their matchup.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
