COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Fairfield County Fair will hold its first wiener dog race at the Grandstand at 10 a.m. on Oct. 8 — only certified dachshunds can compete and owners must pre-register each dog with a $10 fee by Oct. 1 while bringing current vaccination records.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
  • Lancaster officials announced that trick-or-treating will take place on Oct. 30 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. — other Fairfield County communities have scheduled their events between Oct. 23 and Oct. 31.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

  • Cindy Smith, owner of The Frame Shop—who has attended the Fairfield County Fair for 50 years—shared her memories of the event, showing her deep ties to local traditions in Lancaster.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The U.S. Small Business Administration is offering low-interest disaster loans to Ohio residents, businesses and nonprofits affected by July flooding and is accepting applications at the Disaster Loan Outreach Center in Lancaster at 240 Baldwin Drive—open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. until its closure on Oct. 1. Homeowners and renters can borrow up to federal loan limits with a deadline of Nov. 12 for property damage and June 12, 2026 for economic injury loans.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
