COMMUNITY NEWS

  • OSU Extension will open historic buildings and the log cabin at the Fairfield County Fairgrounds for visitors on Sept 6, and a food truck festival will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Master Gardeners & staff will be on site to answer questions about the Pollinator Garden at the Broad Street gate.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
  • Lancaster attorney Jennifer Sitterley of Sitterley Law LLC was named among the top 5% of U.S. attorneys in Trusts and Estates — a recognition earned through peer review. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An 83-year-old from Corning died in a head-on crash when her Nissan Rogue lost its lane on Tatmans Road north of Ohio 37 in Perry County on Sept. 2 at 4:23 p.m.—the collision also sent a 34-year-old driver to a local hospital and her juvenile passenger to Columbus hospital.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

CULTURE NEWS

  • Honeyfest in Lithopolis will celebrate the work of bees and local honey production during a weekend festival that brings together beekeepers and vendors amid a cold, wet spring. Amelia—the American Honey Princess—will attend the festival in downtown Lithopolis today from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.  ABC6

HEALTH NEWS

  • The annual Cancer Care Run & Walk will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11 at Martens Park, 710 Lincoln Ave, where participants will join a 5K run or 2-mile walk and listen to local cancer survivor Rich Martin share his story. The event raises funds for cancer patients at Fairfield Medical Center — registration fees rise after Sept. 7.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
  • On Aug 20, Fairfield Medical Center and Family YMCA staff used the Avive AED system to respond to a neighbor's alert—demonstrating how fast teamwork and technology can help in emergencies. The quick response marked a milestone for Community Heart Watch as it builds a network of trained responders to save lives.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
