CRIME NEWS

  • A beloved neighbor named Gary Franke, known for helping others, was shot dead and found in a shallow grave on Maple Street in Lancaster over the weekend — John T. Scott, 44, from Laurelville was charged with murder while Holly L. McDaniel, 45, from Columbus was charged with abuse of a corpse.  ABC6

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fairfield County Workforce Center will host a Parents' Information Night on Aug. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at 4465 Coonpath Road NW, where high school seniors and families will learn about free pre-apprenticeship programs+ Discovery Days this fall will offer hands-on training in manufacturing, construction trades and healthcare.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
