On Saturday, Lancaster Police were sent for a well-being check at the 700 block of South Maple Street in Fairfield County where they discovered the body of an unknown person in a wooded area—investigators from the Coroner’s Office and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation are examining the scene—and authorities have asked residents to avoid the area.

On Aug. 8, Lancaster’s football team hosted Independence at Fulton Field in their first scrimmage to test player readiness and assess their play — head coach Bryan Schoonover said controlled practice helped the team learn where to improve.

They will hold a final scrimmage on Aug. 14 and open the season on Aug. 22.
