  • Lancaster will hold a Fourth of July celebration with a parade and fireworks at night on July 4. Nearby Fairfield County will host fireworks on July 3 at Pickerington High School Central and at Buckeye Lake where the BLASST event will launch at 9:45 p.m.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
  • The Bloom-Carroll Lions awarded three $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors from Bloom-Carroll High School based on their community service and academic achievement at The Carroll Cup Coffee House. Alaina Bell, Treyton McKee, and Taylor Scott shared their college plans—with Bell heading to The Ohio State University, McKee to Bowling Green State University, and Scott to Ohio University.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Meijer has recalled packages of Frederik's Dark Chocolate Almonds sold in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, and Wisconsin due to undeclared dark chocolate-covered cashews that may cause severe allergic reactions. Customers are advised to return the product for a full refund, and no illnesses have been reported so far.  ABC6

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Franklin Township trustees voted on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. on which fire station to close after voters narrowly rejected a levy in May — the decision cuts the fire department's resources by half and resulted in the layoff of six firefighter/paramedics. Trustees warned that if a new levy fails on the November ballot, further service cuts may follow.  ABC6

HEALTH NEWS

  • Fairfield County ADAMH Services Board partnered with CHESS Health and recently launched two digital tools—eRecovery and ePrevention—to help people with substance use disorder get support anytime, including those re-entering after incarceration. Local providers can use the tools for screening, referrals and care management to reduce wait times for treatment.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
