SPORTS NEWS

  • Lancaster softball beat Grove City 14-5 on May 29 for its 18th win and a state semifinal spot; the team will play at Akron’s Firestone Stadium on Wednesday, June 3 at 10 a.m.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
  • On May 29, Liberty Union defeated Johnstown 9-2 to win its third consecutive regional softball title, sending the team to the state tournament in Lancaster.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
  • Bloom-Carroll won the Division III regional softball title with a 15-0 victory over Jonathan Alder at Berne Union on May 29. The team hit four home runs to secure their win.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
  • Bloom-Carroll lost 6-1 to Bishop Watterson in a Division III district final at Beavers Field on May 29, 2026, finishing as the runner-up. The game showed a hard-fought effort from the team in a closely contested matchup.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
  • Fairfield Christian baseball ended as Division VII district runner-up after Newark Catholic beat them 7-1 at Beavers Field on May 29 (with key plays by Josh Witte).  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
