COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Jerry Stebelton, a founding member of the Rotary Club of Lancaster-Sherman, was named 2025-2026 Rotarian of the Year on May 28. Club co-presidents Christa Moody (and Devon Naim) praised his decades of service in the community and leadership in local initiatives.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lancaster City Schools named Steve Spangler as its next superintendent; he will serve as human resources director and assistant superintendent during this school year and become superintendent on Jan. 1. Spangler previously led secondary education at the district and looks forward to advancing student success.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
  • Lancaster City Schools students earned statewide honors in FFA, SkillsUSA and Educators Rising competitions held in April and May, with several advancing to national contests in June in Portland. The announcement detailed awards and leadership roles that underscore the strength of local career technical education programs.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Thursday, May 28, Amanda-Clearcreek baseball won its first district title in 43 years with a 5 to 0 win over Fredericktown at Beavers Field and advanced to the Sweet 16. Fairfield Christian Academy advanced to the Division VII district championship after senior AJ Holbrook tossed a no-hitter and will face top-seeded Newark Catholic today at 10 a.m. at Beavers Field.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
  • The Lancaster softball team won its 17th straight game with a 5-1 victory over Lakewood - they are one win away from a state tournament berth when they play Grove City at 5:00 p.m. today at Olentangy High School.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
