- ➤ Stargazers in Lancaster will see the Milky Way shine bright over Memorial Day weekend as a new moon on May 26th cuts down light, offering a clearer view of billions of stars. - ➤ OSU Extension in Fairfield County invites local gardeners to the first-ever Master Gardener Plant sale on May 31 at the Fairfield County Fairgrounds, where over 650 perennials, herbs, tomato plants and garden art will be sold individually at cash or check prices while Master Gardeners offer advice (the plants have been dug and divided from county gardens) and share mulching tips to protect trees. The extension office will be closed on Memorial Day, May 26, and will reopen at 7:30 a.m. on May 27. Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

- ➤ Data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration show that Fairfield County has only experienced F0 and F1 tornadoes since 1950—none have hit in 2025—while one of Ohio’s deadliest tornadoes, the Xenia F5 on April 3rd, 1974, claimed 34 lives near Lancaster.
