  • Lancaster residents will enjoy a busy Memorial Day weekend with events across Fairfield County. A band will perform on May 23, a book fair will run on May 24, a farmers market and wellness hike are set for May 25, and the Wagnalls Memorial Library will host a parade with food and drinks on Memorial Day (May 26).  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

  • OSU Extension advises local gardeners to wait until the soil dries before planting to avoid crop loss as nearly daily rains keep soils waterlogged. The column also announces a Master Gardener Plant Sale at Fairfield County Fairgrounds on May 31 and reminds farmers and local drivers to follow safety measures during this busy planting season.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Old Farmer's Almanac predicts that this summer will be very hot and rainy in Ohio — record-breaking heat is possible with a gradual buildup to above-normal temperatures in July and August.
