- ➤ Before being redeveloped as a parking lot in 1974, the historic home at 234 S. Broad St. (NE corner of Broad and Walnut) was featured in a 1962 Eagle-Gazette article that recounted its history from early druggist George M. Kauffman to later owner Harman Ward and its use by the St. Vincent de Paul Society from September 11 until late 1964. Its varied past marks a fading chapter in Lancaster’s local history. - ➤ A windstorm recently hit Lancaster and broke Misty’s wooden fence while an old tree fell onto a three-phase power feeder, snapping a cross-arm and one power wire. Circuit breakers stopped the current flow, so only a few blocks lost power and the affected home got power back around 10 p.m. Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
