The company secured $1.94 billion in financing to keep its pharmacies operating—ensuring prescriptions are transferred smoothly.
🌲 Environment
Dandelions have arrived in Ohio and are now common in lawns as many residents see these bright yellow plants that bloom from April to as late as June.
Homeowners can pull them or use boiling water or vinegar to remove them—while some choose to keep them because the plants help pollinators and improve soil health.
🏛️ Government
Fairfield County Commissioners are leading a study to review local housing gaps and plan for future growth, with findings expected in three to four months.
The study will help guide development and support residents—ensuring options are available for workers and long-time community members.
🏥 Health
Officials report that the New World Screwworm, a parasite that lays eggs in wounds and whose larvae can cause serious infections, is not present in Ohio today (according to APHIS).
Experts warn that warmer temperatures and rising cases in Mexico may increase future risks for livestock, pets, and even humans.
The FDA warned on May 8th that tianeptine—called gas station heroin—poses serious health risks like agitation, coma, and death and is still sold at convenience stores, gas stations, vape shops, and online despite its ban in Ohio and nine other states.
The agency sent warning letters to companies selling the drug and advised health professionals to urge patients to avoid its use.
The Fairfield County Health Department is inviting residents to answer a short survey that asks about local health concerns and ideas for improvement—responses are confidential and will help shape new public health plans.
Health Commissioner Joe Ebel said the survey takes less than 20 minutes and will guide future public health programs.

The Lancaster baseball team won a hard-fought 5–4 contest in nine innings against Canal Winchester on May 9 — senior Aiden Henson hit the decisive two-run single to secure the win — and kept its first-place spot in the OCC-Buckeye Division.
The team improved its overall record to 14–3 and will face three more OCC games as the season heads toward its end.
