  • The Lancaster-Fairfield Community Action Agency will host a ribbon cutting on Monday, May 5 at 3:00 p.m. at 1743 E. Main St. to unveil new freezers+ refrigerators, a pallet scale and other upgrades to boost food storage and distribution for Fairfield County families.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

  • Sugar Bears Pizzeria owners Lisa Beatty and Connie Beatty discussed their shop's long history and role in local dining today — noting its evolution into a neighborhood favorite.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

CULTURE NEWS

  • Buckeye Lake Pirate Fest returns May 15 to 17 at Port Royal at Captain Big Stan's Bar in Thornville. The festival includes 100 vendor spaces, two entertainment stages, a Pass the Flag ceremony, a pirate parade and a body art show with free admission.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
  • Ohio Transportation Trail opens today in Lancaster and Nelsonville, linking over 80 historic sites (including the Soap Box Derby Museum). Run by America 250-Ohio’s Trails and Tales program, it is the fifth of six trails with further expansion planned by the end of 2026.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Tarhe Elementary in Lancaster and Berne Union Elementary in Sugar Grove have been named Purple Star schools today for their work supporting military families. The award requires schools to designate liaison staff and provide targeted support for military-connected students — recognizing ongoing commitment during the Month of the Military Child.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Zumper data shows Lancaster rental prices rose 18% since March 2025, with the typical apartment now listed at $1,238 (one-bedrooms at $900 and two-bedrooms up 14%) among the 97 non-subsidized listings.  Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
