- ➤ Berne Union Rockets from Fairfield County visited Main Street Terrace Nursing Home in Lancaster to hold an Easter egg hunt as a team-building exercise. - ➤ Variety Wholesalers will reopen 130 Big Lots stores in May under new ownership — including the Lancaster store reopening on May 15 to serve local customers. Over 600 stores nationwide, including 56 in Ohio, will close as part of the bankruptcy process. Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

- ➤ A 28-year-old man from Canal Winchester, Kyle Combs, was arrested on April 16 on charges of rape and six counts of gross sexual imposition following a sexual misconduct investigation — his case is now under review by the Fairfield County Prosecutor's Office. ABC6
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ ODOT plans to fast-track US 33 widening by upgrading its status from Tier II to Tier I—this move could unlock $145 million to expand the highway from two to three lanes between Ohio 104 and Diley Road. Environmental clearance is expected by October and construction may begin as soon as 2026. ABC6
- ➤ The Ohio BMV will extend its hours until 3 p.m. (Saturday, April 26) and (Saturday, May 3) to help residents get REAL IDs before TSA starts enforcement on May 7. More than half of Ohio licenses are already compliant with REAL ID requirements. Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
