- ➤ The Fairfield County Health Department and Fairfield County Safe Communities Coalition reported one fatal crash in Fairfield County during the first quarter of 2025, with January recording the incident while February and March had none—this is lower than the three fatal crashes reported in the first quarter of 2024. - ➤ Lancaster Police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck on East Main Street and arrested 47-year-old Ralph Davis on charges of aggravated vehicular assault, failure to stop after an accident and operating under the influence—officials said the victim was transferred from Fairfield Medical Center to a Columbus-area hospital in critical condition. - ➤ The Lyrid meteor shower will light up skies from April 17 to 26 with its peak on April 21 and 22—if weather cooperates, viewers should find a dark spot away from city lights to watch for bright fireballs. Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
- ➤ Scientists say billions of periodical cicadas from Brood XIV – which emerge every 17 years – will start appearing this spring in at least 12 states. In central Ohio, they are expected in the first week of May when the soil reaches 64°. Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
