GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Ohio's Secretary of State Frank LaRose ordered several county boards to use paper pollbooks instead of electronic ones after a security issue was found with one device. Local election officials warn the change may result in longer lines and higher costs at the May 6 primary. ABC6
- ➤ Ohio voters will decide on Issue 2 in the May 6 primary and special election, which would extend a constitutional amendment to fund local infrastructure with up to $2.5 billion in bonds over the next decade. A yes vote supports the program while a no vote would end future funding when current projects finish (without raising taxes) and both absentee and early voting options are available. NBC4
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The USDA issued a public health alert on April 11 for certain frozen soups and bowls that contain cilantro, noting that the ingredient may be contaminated with wood. Products by Campbell's, Molly's, Healthy Request and Craft were sent to stores in Ohio and three other states, and consumers should discard or return them if purchased. Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

- ➤ New data from Realtor.com showed that Fairfield County home sales fell in January, with the overall median price dropping to $273,000 from December’s $312,500—a 12.6% decline and an 11.2% decrease from January last year. - ➤ Three local softball teams were ranked among the best in the state when Bloom-Carroll earned No.1 in Division III with a 10—0 record, Liberty Union secured No.1 in Division V with a 9—1 record, and Lancaster was named No.2 in Division I with a 6—1 record.
