ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A citizen survey from Jan. 7—21 counted 715 bald eagles across 87 counties, highlighting the species' winter presence in Ohio. The Division of Wildlife credits strong conservation efforts and advises viewers to remain 100 yards away from nests. Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Feb. 2, Fairfield County Juvenile Court was recognized nationally for its program that coordinates child welfare and juvenile justice services for dually involved youth (a model that improved collaboration among state agencies and now guides similar efforts in other Ohio courts). HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Toni Ashton, the Fairfield County ADAMH leader, retired at the end of January after more than 40 years in prevention work. Local officials held an open house and board meeting to honor her service and recognize her many awards. Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
