- ➤ Fairfield County 2-1-1 is assisting residents during extreme cold after heavy snow by fielding calls for transportation help and warming centers while some remain in vehicles. - ➤ At Buckeye Lake Winterfest on Jan. 31, Benny the Bass will predict an early spring if he eats a minnow in three minutes (the tradition draws about 25,000 visitors who enjoy live music, food, dancing and fireworks). Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

- ➤ Fairfield County was downgraded to a level 1 snow emergency just before 5 p.m. Jan. 28 as Sheriff Alex Lape said roads can be hazardous due to accumulated, blowing, and drifting snow; drivers are urged to exercise caution during travel. Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
