- ➤ Fairfield County used ARP funds to double Habitat for Humanity of Southeast Ohio's building capacity and launch a training program with Eastland-Fairfield Career Center. Five new affordable homes are in Lancaster, one is in Pleasantville, and one is moving to Fairfield Beach to support single mothers and children. Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fairfield County Sheriff Alex Lape said he will review roadway conditions and call data before declaring a Level 3 snow emergency to restrict non-essential travel and keep roads clear for emergency responders during the winter storm expected this weekend (such emergencies are rare in the county). HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Residents can help ease a 35% blood shortage by donating at Fairfield County drives, including at Lancaster Blood Donation Center on Jan. 27 and events in Bremen and Pickerington. - ➤ On Friday, Jan. 23, the Lancaster girls' basketball team pulled off a 48-47 win over Groveport after trailing by five in the fourth quarter. Senior Carlee Arledge (a two-time knee surgery survivor) scored the final points down the stretch to secure the victory. Lancaster Eagle-Gazette
